Introduction
The efficacy of laser therapy has been repeatedly confirmed in the literature. Despite that, it is rarely used in wound treatment and continues to be imbued with a certain mystic quality. Many
practitioners are unable to comprehend that red light has a relevant effect on the body’s regenerative powers.
The journal WUNDmanagement is concerned with the care, prevention and treatment of chronic wounds. A particular concern is the strengthening of constructive cooperation in the cooperation in treatment and the identification of pragmatic approaches to standardised measures through dialogue between all those involved. The exchange of information and experience on practical problems has as much has its place here as well as scientific papers and reports on wound management and health care.
This includes leg ulcers, pressure ulcers and diabetic foot syndrome
Alginols in wound therapy: properties and reimbursability
by M. Storck, B. Sträter, A. Pollandt, M. Augustin
The aim of this paper was to evaluate Alginols according to medical and legal criteria. The authors went through a consensus procedure and, considering thecurrently valid legal framework, classified Alginols into the dressing categories specified by the legislator based on § 31 Abs. 1a Sozialgesetzbuch (SGB) V, translated Section 31(1a) of Book V of the German Code of Social Law (SGB V). Expert consensus was based on both clinical experience and published study evidence.
